AKORA Resources Granted Mining Permit for Bekisopa Iron Ore Project
AKORA Resources (ASX: AKO) – Bekisopa Mining Permit Granted
AKORA has secured a Stage 1 mining permit for its Bekisopa high-grade iron ore project in Madagascar, registered with the BCMM under the Malagasy Mining Code. The permit covers approximately 25km² and carries a 25-year tenure, also extending over any future Stage 2 magnetite operations.
The milestone moves Bekisopa from exploration into development and mining, and is expected to accelerate engagement with strategic funding partners, banks and offtake financiers. AKORA attributes the permit's granting to strong Malagasy government support and disciplined stakeholder engagement.
MD Peter Bird called it a transformational achievement, noting the project's ambition to grow from a low-cost DSO operation into a potential world-class iron ore project underpinned by an exploration target of up to 1 billion tonnes.
Recent mapping and trenching (365 samples) continues to reinforce upside to expand the indicated DSO resource footprint.
